KITZBÜHEL IS OUTSTANDING FOR INTERMEDIATE SKIERS
Whilst Kitzbühel has a reputation for hosting the most feared ski race course in the world, the reality is that much of the ski terrain is better suited to intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Most of the Kitzbüheler Horn ski sector is suited to intermediate skiers and whilst the area is much smaller than the Hahnenkamm sector, the area is well worth a ski.
The Hahnenkamm sector though is where the intermediate skiing really opens up and it is possible to ski big distances out to Pass Thurn at the southern boundary of the Kitzbühel ski area. In both directions there are wonderful open and treelined ski pistes as well as numerous mountain huts with sunny terraces. Signposting is good and there are usually piste options where steeper sections can be by-passed.
SKI WELT
For skiers and snowboarders looking to ski to the horizon (and back), the Ski Welt ski area lies to the north of the Kitzbühel (Hahnenkamm) ski area and can be accessed via the ski resort of Westendorf. From Westendorf, Brixen, Söll, Scheffau and Ellmau lie on a northern route to the end of the Ski Welt ski region at the resort of Going. The region is an absolute dream for intermediate skiers with endless ski pistes, good signposting and numerous mountain huts and sunny terraces.
