ACTION IN KITZBÜHEL, FROM ICE DRIVING TO HOT AIR BALLOONING
Kitzbühel does corporate ski events like few other destinations, anywhere. Skiing and snowboarding are synonymous with Kitzbühel but there are many incredible events that can be packaged around a day of skiing, or for non-skiers, instead of the skiing.
BALLOONING
Drift through the frigid alpine air on air currents as the once towering peaks reside far beneath the basket of the balloon. New perspectives and stunning horizons, this is definitely an activity to take a quality camera along.
PARAGLIDING
Another twist on the airborne experience, clients take to the air, strapped to a pilot, launching from the snow on skis or on foot. The sensation of gliding high above Kitzbühel with the birds, amongst the thermal air currents is an incredible experience.
TANDEM SKY DIVING
If paragliding is too much of a slow burn, then how about jumping out of a plane, strapped to a sky-diving trainer and hurtling back toward the valley floor. The greater height affords even wider perspectives, whilst the rapidly inbound valley is enough to get the adrenalin tanking through the system.
SNOWSHOE WALKING
For those wanting to experience the stunning tranquillity and escapism of the Alpine peaks, without suffering the agony of ski boots and the ignominy of day 1 ski ability, then snowshoe walking is a fantastic alternative. Guided snowshoe walks take clients away from the crowded slopes and humming lifts, to a pristine world of nature and serenity. Snowshoe walks can often be organised for lunch meetings on the mountains, with ski groups.
ICE CLIMBING
Technical, daring and very cool, ice climbing courses can have clients scaling verticals walls of ice with ice axes and crampons.
SKI RACE
Après ski talk can often inflate moments on the snow, with faster, further, deeper being the order of the night. What better way to put some certainty behind a brag, than a team ski race? Instructors will set the course, officiate and be on hand to return strewn skis and poles. The office knows with a high degree of certainty, who the boss of the snow really is.
SKIDOO
Take a skidoo over jumps and around banked curves on a purpose-built circuit on the edge of Kitzbühel.
ICE HOCKEY
Without regard for ability or experience on ice, teams will lace up skates and wrap themselves in full-body paddling before taking to the ice against team-mates. Definitely one for the iPhone video mode and highlights being messaged back to colleagues. Chaos.
FIRE WALKING
One of the few times that it is sensible to go barefoot on snow. The contrast between fire and ice is obvious and this test of resolve and self-belief can make for great team building moments.
SPECTATOR EVENTS
The Kitzbühel Hahnenkamm race weekend is as pulsating and mesmerising a live sports event as one could hope to see. This is no ordinary men’s downhill ski race, it is the most fearsome and challenging ski race in the world and tens of thousands of people descend on Kitzbühel to stand on the sheer mountainside and watch as the ski racers fly past at up to 130km/h. Once the action on the snow is over, Kitzbühel transforms into the biggest après ski party in the world. The Kitzbühel Hahnenkamm ski race weekend – seeing is believing.
Another must-see event is the Snow Polo championships that take place on the edge of Kitzbühel. Watching polo players thunder across the snowy playing field on horses is spectacular, whilst the hospitality is second to none.
